Seiche

About

How this record is made.

Seiche turns the public record of a place — agendas, packets, filings, meeting listings — into a persistent, source-linked account of what changed, why it matters, and what happens next.

Our reporting standard

Public records first. Claims clearly attributed. Unknowns left open.

Those three lines sit in the footer of every page here, and they are the whole editorial posture. Where the record is silent, this surface says so rather than filling the gap.

The instrument reads movement in the public record; it does not create the pressure and it does not take a political side. Journalists keep the judgment that matters — what to prioritize, what to verify, what to publish, and what to correct.

Preview, not review

Preview, not review.

Civic movement first becomes detectable well before any meeting takes place — in an agenda posted, a packet released, a filing submitted, a budget line changed, a notice published, or a change to the public data itself. That is where Seiche starts watching, and it is where a matter’s record on this site begins.

The meeting is a checkpoint in that record, not the product. A vote confirms or resolves what was already moving in public view; it is not the first moment the record had something to say.

Every item here carries two dates: when the record first moved, and when the body meets.

How a brief is made

From a public document to a page you can check.

  1. It starts with a source document.

An agenda, a packet, a filing, or a meeting listing published by a governing body. The Seiche Record on each item keeps its source owner, dates, and original document.

  2. Claims are bound to citations.

A draft is written against that record with its claims attached to the specific evidence they rest on, then read by an adversarial judge before it is eligible to be published at all.

  3. Publication takes one of two lanes.

Supported, citation-complete, current public-record items publish straight through after judge, citation and freshness checks. Exceptions, and anything published as a deliberate editorial act, go to a human decision.

  4. Some items are the record itself.

Not every public item has a brief written about it. Those pages show only the fields the official record supplies and say plainly that no brief exists yet. Giving a raw record a page here is not the same as giving it a voice.

AI disclosure

Every item says how it was written.

Each story discloses whether it was drafted with AI assistance from the public record or written by an editor, and whether it was automatically published or handled by an editor. That disclosure is part of the item, not decoration on the page: it is carried in every rendered artifact and in the markup of any embed a publisher hosts, so no distribution path can drop it.

AI is the mechanism here, not the purpose. It supplies capacity. The record, the visible sources, local judgment, and correction behaviour are what the work is actually made of.

Corrections and retractions

Nothing is edited away quietly.

Publication history is append-only. A correction or a retraction is a new, visible event on the item’s record — never a silent rewrite and never a page that disappears. A retracted brief renders a tombstone that says it was retracted, not a 404.

The Seiche Record on each item carries its source owner, dates, original document, AI role, review state and corrections, so a reader can check the history rather than take our word for it.

Markets

A market is a place and the bodies that govern it.

One market wraps the jurisdictions a resident actually lives inside — a city and its school district, a county and the towns within it — because a person’s civic geography rarely stops at one boundary.

No market has been launched publicly yet. A market that is still in preview is reachable but says so at the top of every page, and is not offered to search engines.

Residents

What a saved address is, and is not.

A resident’s address, follows and interests shape one person’s view of the record. They are not community opinion, they are not advertising or political-targeting data, and they are not a signal to sell to officials. Public community signals come from attributable public records and reporting, never from what one reader saved.
